The use of native plants is necessary to create environmentally-responsible gardens and landscapes. The immense value of these plants to the survival of local wildlife such as insects and birds is undeniable: an ecosystem cannot exist without habitat. With increased chemical overuse, habitat loss, and climate change, re-introducing native plants to their natural habitats via our gardens and landscapes is of vital importance.

The Greater Omaha Native Plant Society is a non-profit community group with members in the Omaha metro area. Our main focus is transforming our own gardens and landscapes to be sustainable, pollinator habitats. By furthering education surrounding pollinators and native plants, members of our community can be confident in transforming their “small corner of the world” into ecological spaces.
